RULES
Ѫ No Wank: I'm sure by now we've all become painfully familiar with places like RP!S and the Anon Comm, and should know better than to use it. If you have a problem, talk it out player-to-player like the adults you are and should be. If that's impossible, please bring your problem to a mod by utilizing the confidentiality contact page, e-mail, or IMing directly. If we find out that there is wank going on the anon comm, we will step in, and, if needed we will not hesitate to bring it to Dreamwidth admin in efforts to stop harassment. It is not tolerated and anyone found doing it will be immediately perma-banned. This community will not, frankly, put up with what we consider to be crap and disrespectful behavior. If you don't like this rule, don't bother applying.
Ѫ Be Active: We know that RL can and will get in the way, and that's fine. School and work and whatever business you have outside of the internet is far more important. Be sure to appropriately take hiatus when needed, and keep yourself in a good mindset so you don't stress yourself. This is supposed to be fun, after all!
Ѫ No Godmoding/Metagaming/Infomoding/etc: If you don't know what these terms are, then a quick lowdown is: No taking control of another character's actions, thoughts, conclusions or using information your character does not know, IN GAME. If you wanted to control that character, you should have applied for them. Err on the side of caution and ask first before assuming anything that might potentially break this rule.
Ѫ Character Limits: No more than 5 characters per mun, and no more than two of the same canon (which should have very little/insignificant or no interaction with one another). If you are magickally able to handle more than the character limit and you really really want that 6th character, talk to a mod about it.
Ѫ Keep it IC: RP is made for entertainment, and we are not all perfect. When you turn in an application, and we accept it, we expect you to stay true to your character, whether they are making friends, forming relationships, or gaining enemies. But of course, there is growth, as well as relationships, as we are mimicking real life. However, we trust you to know what is IC, and what is not. Keeping yourself IC is not just for yourself, but for the enjoyment of other players as well. Remember this!
F.A.Q
Q: So, tell me about this world you've created.
A: WORLD MART takes place in the dimensional crossing 'Central Station', a sort of "interdimensional intersection', which is in the heart of all the worlds combined. It is a futuristic-looking port station, constantly bustling with people. Its rare to meet the same person twice... unless, of course, you work at World Mart.
Q: And what the heck is World Mart?
A: A giant interdimensional superstore. You can buy anything there, literally. Clothing, food, books, make-up, medicine, electronics--anything. Its known for selling most anything as well. Think of it as... a little piece of every dimension ever. So, elaborating on that.... you could find the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them from the Harry Potter universe, or mock Cardcaptor Sakura plastic wands (sans magick powers, of course). Odd food items from other worlds can be found as well.
Q: So, about my characters...
A: They arrive here from whatever point in canon you choose, powers and all.
Q: But they wouldn't work at a supermarket.
A: A lot of people in RL probably wouldn't want to work in a supermarket. But you know what makes them?Money Circumstance. That is the same with your characters. They are being forced to work here, to pay for their "right to exist"... think of it as... dimension-wide economics.
Q: Shit.
A: Yep.
Q: Wait, what if I want a child character? Child labor laws and all...
A: Child characters are a bit different, but there are still jobs they can do (check out the Jobs page for more info). However, unlike their older counterparts, they are only part-time employees, and when they are not at work, they under go World Mart "Betterment Training" courses to prepare them for full-time work in whatever department they want. The age range really varies, as say, Ritsuka from Loveless who is twelve is considered a child and thus would only be part-time, but a young Naruto (whom is also the same age), could be considered an adult and work full-time. Its up to you as the mun, but think realistically when you assign your character to their jobs.
Q: Okay, so... how do I pick their jobs? Or does the character?
A: You will OOCly pick which job your character receives upon arriving. When they do arrive, they will find out their job on the spot. When you pick a job, think about what your character is capable of. Someone like Goku from Dragon Ball Z isn't going to get work at the nail and hair salon, but its possible the Hitachiin Brothers from Host Club could, as they have been canonly seen making-up characters in the series. Also, positions like 'cashier' are general and pretty much anyone could have that job. The application will prompt you for why you have picked that job and why you want it for the character/why they would be good for the position.
Q: Aaaaand how do you plan on keeping them there? Hell no they aren't going to work there! I'll get a job elsewhere!
A: Not so fast! Your character will not be forced to come to work, until they realize that its the only way they are going to survive. First of all, if they attempt to find work outside of World Mart, they will find no one will hire them, because they are technically immigrants. Think of it as trying to get work outside of your country without the proper paperwork. Its hard in the real world, but your characters will find it impossible at Central Station, especially since they already have jobs with World Mart! Without work, there is no money, no eating, nothing. Second, the only way out is to take a cargo spaceship out of the station. Your character could manage to sneak on--but as soon as they touch the place where dimensions part, will find themselves right back in front of World Mart.
Q: Alright, so what if I need to take a hiatus? What happens to my characters?
A: Your characters will suddenly feel feverish, and go into a coma (you can determine how quickly they go into a coma after contracting the fever). To the locals, its known as the "Traveler's Flu", which is caused by the body reacting badly to space-time travel. The "flu" can last for any length of time (your hiatus). Sometimes, people are known to disappear after it (due to leaving after a hiatus, or canon updating). You can assume they are awake and just "around", as well.
Q: What about different languages?
A: Your communication device, the "WORLD MOBILE" (or WM) automatically translates for you as long as its on your person. If its not, and you break, lose, or even drop it, you lose the translating ability. Keeping it on you is important! You can find out more about the WORLD MOBILE in the Gameplay section.
Q: Pets?
A: Pets/familiars are welcomed! Ones with playable personalities, however, will have to be applied for. Example: Watanuki's pipefox from xxxHolic is all right to play, but Kero from Cardcaptor Sakura must be applied for. And yes. Even he could work here, somehow.
Q: What about humanoid characters, like Sonic?
A: Yes. Sonic can be here. Work it, hedgehog.
